Private shore excursions · Reykjavík cruise port

Golden Circle shore excursion.
Private, from the gangway, back with time to spare.

A private Golden Circle tour for cruise passengers docking in Reykjavík. Gangway pickup at Skarfabakki or Miðbakki, Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss in 5–6 hours, and a guaranteed return 90 minutes before all-aboard.

Shore excursion

From the gangway to Gullfoss and back — with time to spare.

Cruise ships in Reykjavík dock at Skarfabakki in Sundahöfn, or at Miðbakki by the old harbour. Your guide meets you at the gangway with your name on a sign, and you're on the road to Þingvellir while the ship's own coaches are still boarding.

The Golden Circle is a comfortable half-day from the port: 45 minutes to Þingvellir, an hour on to Geysir, ten minutes more to Gullfoss, and 90 minutes straight back. We run it as a 5–6 hour private tour, sized to your all-aboard time.

Tell us your ship, your arrival and all-aboard times when you book. We build the day backwards from the all-aboard: if the ship is in port for eight hours, you get the full Golden Circle with time at every stop; if it's six, we take the three stops at a brisker pace and skip nothing. Your guide watches the clock so you don't have to. In the unlikely event that we cause you to miss the ship, we arrange and pay for your transport to the next port.

Why not the ship's excursion?

Same route. Forty fewer people.

The ship's Golden Circle excursion is a coach of forty to fifty passengers, a fixed order of stops, and twenty minutes at each. Ours carries your group alone, leaves when you step off, stops when you say and stays as long as you like — for about the same price per person as the ship charges once you're four or more.

Tenders and delayed arrivals happen. Because it's private, a late start just means a slightly shorter day, not a missed tour.

Questions

Asked before this tour

Where do cruise ships dock in Reykjavík, and where do you meet us?

Larger ships dock at Skarfabakki in Sundahöfn, about ten minutes east of the centre; smaller ones at Miðbakki by the old harbour. Your guide meets you at the foot of the gangway (or the terminal exit at Skarfabakki) with a sign, at the time you choose.

Is the Golden Circle possible in a short port call?

Yes, with six hours or more in port. The three stops are within 90 minutes of the port and the private tour runs 5–6 hours, so a 07:00–15:00 call works comfortably. With less than six hours we'll suggest two of the three stops rather than rush all of them.

What if the ship arrives late or we're delayed by tenders?

Your guide tracks the ship's arrival and waits; a late start just shortens the day slightly. If the ship's schedule changes so much that the tour can't run, you get a full refund.

How much does a private Golden Circle tour cost?

154,900 kr for a private group of 1–4 and 184,900 kr for 5–8, VAT included — per group, not per person. For a family of four that's about 38,725 kr each; for eight, about 23,112 kr each, which is close to a small-group minibus seat but with your own guide, your own timing and nobody else on board. Entrances, parking and Reykjavík hotel pickup are included; the only extras are optional add-on stops with admission fees, Keflavík pickup (25,000 kr) and extra hours (15,000 kr each).

How long is the Golden Circle tour?

About six hours door to door — roughly 240 km of driving with an hour or so at each of the three stops. Because it's private, that's a starting point rather than a schedule: stay longer at Gullfoss, add Kerið, or ask for a shorter five-hour version if you have a flight or a ship to catch.

Will someone take our photo?

Yes — constantly, if you like. Your guide knows the viewpoints, the angles and the light at every stop, and will happily shoot your group on your phone or camera throughout the day. Nobody goes home with only landscape shots and no people in them.

Is it suitable for limited mobility or a wheelchair?

Mostly, yes. Þingvellir's main viewpoint and the Geysir field are level and paved; Gullfoss has a paved upper viewpoint and steps to the lower one, which we can skip. Tell us what you need and we'll plan the stops and the vehicle around it.

How do we pay, and when?

Send the request, we confirm your date by email within a few hours, and you pay by card (Visa / Mastercard) through a secure Straumur link. Nothing is charged until you've confirmed, and your date is reserved once payment is received. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
